At Google we work hard to earn our users’ trust every day. Trust & Safety is Google’s team of abuse fighting and user trust experts working daily to make the internet a safer place. We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.
The role: Analyst, Search, Trust and Safety - Singapore
Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.
Additional Role Description:
Analysts within Trust and Safety at Google work with cutting-edge technologies, to improve the quality of Google's Search results.
As part of this team, you will develop and manage cross-functional relationships with Engineering, Product, Legal, Sales, and Operations teams in a multifaceted effort to improve the search experience. You will lead efforts to improve our processes for identifying and resolving quality issues. You'll be responsible for analyzing market trends, exploring new technologies, and ensuring a high-quality experience for our users. You will be comfortable with reviewing many web search results, and discussing nuances of Google product policies.
Responsibilities:
- Perform complex data analyses to derive insights that help identify and fight abuse across our products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups such as Engineering, Sales and Legal to update product policies, and provide a better digital experience for our users.
- Use technical judgment to drive project delivery, challenge proposals and identify risks. Manage multiple interdependent projects of moderate to high complexity and scope.
- Improve tools through data analysis, technical expertise, and presentations to key stakeholders. Enhance our operational workflows via process improvements and identification of automation opportunities.
- Conduct investigations, enforce our product policies, and identify product vulnerabilities (may occasionally be exposed to disturbing or offensive content during the process).
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in manipulating data sets using SQL or other programming/scripting languages.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: coding (i.e. C/C++, Python, Java), front-end development (i.e. HTML, JavaScript, CSS) or statistical analysis (i.e. R, Stata, SPSS, SAS).
- Experience with digital abuse fighting, working in a security and/or privacy team on data protection and user trust.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, and effective communication skills with experience working successfully in teams.
- Comfortable working amidst ambiguity.
