The role: Legal Compliance Specialist - Singapore

Our Legal team needs more than attorneys to keep things moving. Our Legal Operations team is charged with improving and maintaining the Legal team's internal processes, systems and tools. Responsible for tracking objectives, coordinating financial planning and solving technology challenges, you are entrepreneurial, proactive and highly organized. You keep costs down, engage third-party vendors and make the Legal team's services better, faster and more efficient.

Additional Role Description:

Google effectively and meaningfully fulfills its social responsibility by defining and shaping the culture of compliance and integrity. The Office of Compliance and Integrity (OCI) uses its holistic and global capabilities to optimize consistency and calibration in managing compliance exposures across the company.

As a OCI Legal Compliance Specialist, you will provide support to the OCI International team on various compliance matters and projects of moderate risk and complexity. The focus of this role is managing and improving existing processes, creating new processes and overseeing their implementation, managing and organizing information and documentation for the benefit of the team which they support to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team and, acting as an expert and thought leader in high impact areas. You'll interact with multiple groups within the OCI Function, with internal clients across Google, Product Area Compliance Leads, and with external parties.


- Manage legal matters of moderate impact, risk, and complexity with limited oversight. Field moderate risk and complex escalations from the team and internal/external clients in areas of subject expertise. Delegate and assign/oversee tasks to other Regional Counsel.

- Implement system or process enhancements to manage workflow more effectively.

- Own projects of moderate impact, risk, and complexity; act as subject matter expert and primary point person on multiple project areas, coordinate cross-functionally on project specifications, maintain feedback loop with stakeholders to identify issues and drive further improvement.

- Arrange/organize logistics for team travel and business trips within the APAC region post pandemic.

- Provide support to Product Area Compliance Leads in region.

Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

- 5 years of work experience working as a compliance officer or an auditor.

- Engage and support English-speaking partners to navigate legal/compliance matters.

Preferred qualifications:

- Ability to prioritize and manage numerous simultaneous projects.

- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
