Responsibilities
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert with regards to import and export documentation/ permit/ licensing, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), valuation of products, Country of Origin, and regional logistics compliance issues.
- Liaise with local operations teams and other cross-functional teams across the company’s global network to optimize daily operations through sharing of best practices.
- Drive customs initiatives with Regional Key Account holders for our global clients i.e. leverage on Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), changes in policies and regulations, etc.
- Experience with export and import controls, economic sanctions, and other trade laws, regulations and requirements administered by jurisdictions.
- Create best practice methodologies that are to share internally within the Group.
- Work with global team to standardise and operationalise trade compliance processes across the Group
- Train staff at all levels in formalized programs based on areas of potential exposure.
- Keep current with global and local regulatory issues to limit corporate exposure at all levels.
- Increase productivity and efficiency at the operations level thorough systems development, written procedures and policy, and recommendations.
- Provide supervision and guidance to business units on regulatory changes and compliance matters.
- Provide or support training and education on trade compliance related matters.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in international and local regulatory framework for Importing/ exporting
- In depth knowledge of, and extensive experience with, the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the Singapore Strategic Goods Control Act.
- Experience with encryption, technology transfers, and deemed export programs preferred.
- Prior experience with developing and implementing Trade Compliance programs in large, global companies a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills are required.
- Able to anticipate and proactively address issues and develop solutions.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and trust, including in dealing with complex and sensitive matters
