Job Description
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for assisting in providing innovative and cost-effective solutions requiring the development or sustaining of new or improved techniques, procedures or products. The Mechanical Engineer should also assist in planning, conducting and evaluating approaches to meeting the project objectives in a timely fashion.
The mechanical engineer will work within the Reservoir Performance division in the Intervention business line. This business line contains the Coiled Tubing equipment portfolio where the mechanical engineer will prominently support the X-11 Coiled Tubing portfolio and reports directly to the X-11 Project Manager.
Specific deliverables and responsibilities
Analyze, design, develop, maintain products and assist in their commercialization.
Conducts technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs. Contributes to design standards and support design re-use.
Create and maintain product documentation. Follows Concurrent Life Cycle process and procedures for product documentation.
Provides support to the field and customers through InTouch.
Troubleshoots directly with field to minimize non-productive time.
Participate in service quality investigations.
Provides users training as required.
Travels to field locations at short notice to support users directly.
Authors technical papers, articles, patents and presentations. Shares expertise and knowledge via Eureka, special interest groups, InTouch and directly to other business lines.
Maintain familiarity with company technology, organization and business.
Improve the equipment reliability of the division's assets.
Improve efficiency and increase asset utilization within the division.
Reduce CoSD of assets.
Works with electrical engineer and design team to support product improvements.
Complies with all SLB HSE, Ethics and Compliance procedures and standards.
Experience in the following areas is required
- 3-5 years of Mechanical and Hydraulic experience.
- Understand and interprets engineering drawings.
- Hydraulic Systems, Schematics knowledge.
- Structural design and stress analysis knowhow.
- Engineering design calculations (flow, pressure, load, heat dissipation)
- Preparing engineering documentation.
Experience in the following areas is preferred
- CAD software like ProE, AutoCAD.
- Following a quality management system.
- Coordination between supplier (machine shop, 3rd party) for purchase or manufacture of items.
- Coordinate with regulatory companies such as DNV, ABS.
- Mechanical hands on experience.
- Experience in automation usage in projects.
- Global Engineering Management software (GEMS), product lifecycle management application.
- Mechanical experience in projects.
