About our group:

This group will be a part of a large Cloud Engineering Operations team that is currently involved in building, operating and managing cloud infrastructure for Seagate and potential external customers. The Cloud Operations will support 24 x 7 cloud operations involving multiple data centers across the world and support the storage needs of customers. The overall storage footprint to be supported in these data centers eventually will be in the magnitude of exabytes.

About the role - you will:

  • Be reporting to the Senior Director of Cloud Operations team
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues based in the US, Singapore, and Malaysia to provide 24 x 7 cloud operations support
  • Work extensively with third-party contractors working in shifts to monitor and maintain service uptime
  • Get on troubleshooting incidents calls to restore service when needed
  • Track and maintain Service Level Objectives and Error Budget. Create operational dashboards, reports and other visual and quantitative management tools to track and report on network and system uptime, service interruptions, and other service level metrics
  • Maintain constant vigilance and situational awareness of all incidents, escalations and events related to maintaining service uptime
  • Work closely with the Cloud Development & Infrastructure Engineering team and Customer Support team. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) related to Cloud Operations

About you:

  • Familiar and experience in ITIL based service management, including implementing ITIL based control processes
  • Proven record of technical accomplishment contributing to IT service delivery in complex, mission-critical environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good analytical skills, especially in incident and problem management
  • Well versed in the working with onsite/offshore and core team/flex team models
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude, possesses keen sense of urgency, and is a clear-thinker able to perform in high-pressure situations
  • Willing to work on 24*7 shift rotation hours

Required Technical skills:

  • Linux scripting and administration. Linux based deployment using Command Line Interface
  • Used industry common monitoring and logging tools, such as Zabbix, Prometheus, Fluentd
  • Knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, Perl or Python for scripting and automation
  • Familiarity with DevOps, Continuous Integration & Delivery, Release on demand
  • Familiarity with Hardware load balancers, firewalls and proxies

Preferred Technical skills:

  • Familiarity with cluster management in Kubernetes or any other Cloud native environment
  • Familiarity with 100 Gbps network topology
  • Familiarity with Jira and GitLab

Your experience includes:

  • Data Center Operations technical support
  • Production support of the main services offered to customers, troubleshooting outages and incidents, capacity planning, working closely with the customer support and development engineering team
  • Cloud native apps and systems in an on-prem or private cloud environment
  • Working knowledge on Kubernetes and Kubernetes native applications
  • Familiar in NGINX and/or NGINX Plus
  • Working knowledge on complex network topologies and 100 Gbps networks
  • Hands-on knowledge in ITIL based ITSM tool, creation of SOPs, and problem triage
  • Working knowledge on S3 or any other object storage highly desirable
